About Us

The San Diego Advertising Fund for Emergencies (SAFE) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing financial aid in life crisis situations to members of the San Diego County advertising industry and their families. Potential recipients come from advertising agencies, public relations firms, media outlets, in-house advertising departments, interactive/online companies and ancillary services to the industry such as printing and direct mail companies, talent agencies and photographers.

SAFE was created by volunteer industry professionals and inspired by the Advertising Industry Emergency Fund (AIEF) in Los Angeles and the Dedicating Resources to Employees of Advertising and Media (DREAM) fund in Dallas. Guided by a set of by-laws, SAFE cases are introduced to and voted on by the Executive Board. A member of the SAFE Executive Board is assigned to each case and makes sure that the recipientís case is handled carefully, confidentially and compassionately.

The SAFE Board of Directors meets six times a year and is comprised of 13 industry professionals, each serving a two-year term.

All board members are actively involved in the planning of our annual fundraising event and are responsible for the chairing of committees, making phone calls, letter and email writing and soliciting for sponsorships, program ads and auction items. They also serve on marketing, community outreach and case management committees.

This commitment to building a strong, healthy organization takes much more than a few minutes out of each board memberís week. For most, only their primary jobs take up more time!

Thatís why SAFE is where it is today, and thatís why SAFE will be there should you need us tomorrow!
